What a great weekend! Awesome job steve and set-up crew it was outstanding. Was marshal last year and support crew this year (i'm getting closer 
) and was great from a spectator point of view. Hopefully can get sorted for the next one

Another awesome club class winch challenge! Well done to Steve and his mob for taking club class to yet another level. It seems this new class is really taking off, and without these guys who sacrifice so much of their time to run these club class events, we'd all still be just spectators.
We had a blast! Our Saturday stages were pretty messy, as we both made silly mistakes on 3 out of the 4 stages, but we made up for that with one stage win and another reasonable time on the two night stages. Sunday started off well with one good stage, but I blew a cv in a moment of over-exuberance on our second stage and had to rush to get it changed in time to run the next stage. We made it to the last stage, but in the rush forgot to put it back in 4wd, so it wasn't our finest performance!
I have to say I was a lot more nervous standing at prize giving waiting to find out what place we had gotten, than actually lining up for any of the stages. It was real cool (and a bit emotional) to be the first to take home the John Walker trophy - thanks to 4x4 Challenges for organising that trophy in Dad's name, we all think that's a very fitting memorial.
Well done to Glen and Grant, our fellow first equal place getters. From what I saw and heard, they performed consistently well over the weekend and were well deserved winners. Thanks also for letting us take home the bling new trophy - maybe we'll be handing it over to you at Whangarei in May.
And to other club class competitors, watch out for Mike and Dave - they were kicking butt on day one and were in the top three after saturday's night stages. If they hadn't broken they'd have been serious contenders for the number 1 spot. Well done guys.

Wow, what a primo weekend!!!!!!
Been wondering round at work all day slightly dazed, but still grinning from ear to ear (partly cause the trucks parked out in the car park on the trailer still plastered in the extreme parks finest 
)
Its been said by everone so far, but i'll add to it:
Big ups to everyone involved in the organisation and running of this event, it ran like clock work and the stages were awesome !!!!!
Our little camp from the Waikato had its share of drama over the weekend. My truck behaved its self, despite the radiator packing a sad when i was loading it onto the trailer on friday just as we where about to leave. The only trouble i had was spinning a tyre on the rim and ripping the inner tube apart on the first night stage. I was determined to drive a bog so i didn't have to winch and hit it waaaay to hard. I haven't washed it yet, but so far the only obvious damage is a leaking rear axle seal. Cheers to Jeremy for the loan of ya spare tyre so we could do the second night stage
Dan in the blue zook had a bit of drama. He blew a front axle on the third stage on Saturday (strengthened CV's, so it blew the axle instead
). We replaced the axle ready for the night stage's, then on the first night stage after throwing the truck through the same bog i spun my tyre on, he slipped sideways off a ledge and ended up on his roof against a tree
In doing so, the truck decided to bust an engine mount and smash the dizzy. After getting it mobile again, he limped it back to camp, and made the call to keep on going the next day. He zip tied the dizzy cap back on, chained the engine mount down and went out with the intention of teaching the truck a lesson for misbehaving
First hazard in on sunday he launched it through a hole, and the truck cried enough and broke rear leaf spring.
Time that man brought a Safari or a Cruiser
Cheers to Tim for the support crew effort keeping Dan and i both mobile all weekend, and to everyone (especially Darin and Jeremy ) for the service assistance

I have to say that the guys that turned up and raced in the club class had an amazing attitude towards and it was great to be apart of it. As some may have heard, my truck ran a big end bearing after the night stage on Friday night so about 2am we decided to enter the Club Class in my co-drivers Disco.
So my first time as a winch bitch and I had to do it after being up till after 4am solving the worlds problem! We managed 3 stages before we both decided enough was enough. The best part of it was I now have justification for yelling at him whenever he gets a penalty as I got none, and one stage we made a real mess of and did ALOT of winching!
So now that I have come last in both classes at the same event (a title that no one will ever repeat) I can really appreciate why these guys want this class. I think that it is going to become the core of the sport and as long as everyone keeps the same fantastic attitude and keeps it fun but of course still competitive, then it will grow out of control!
What a great weekend and the new guys in the sport fitted in amazingly well. I hope they all come back to the next one, in particular the guy that has one of my CV's!!!
Also I spoke with quite a few of the sponsors and they are totally in support of the club class and also think it is a great thing. Rumour has it that one of the SUPER sponsors of winch challenges is going to enter the club class in Whangarei, the only reason he didn't at Nor-West was he is filming with 4WDTV today. For those that know who this SUPER sponsor is, maybe a small amount of pressure will have him along
So for those that can hack it, Whangarei in 2 months!!!

The new Club Class, John Walker Memorial Trophy that was put up for grabs by 4x4 Challenges.
The idea is that the trophy will be presented to the winner of each club class event by the previous event winner, so it'll be up for grabs again at the Northland winch challenge in May.

My brother Nathan was filming for 4wdTV and followed our group around, so there should be some good footage of you guys. Simon said they had some awesome footage from the challenge class, so it should be a good episode!

Regarding 4WD tv footage, Simon normaly sends a hole pile off disks to Tracy (from norwest club) to sell ($15 normaly). But I dont think she cant sell them till after it plays on tv in NZ. could be three to six months. Send him an email and he may put sum raw footage at the end like he did for last year comp.

AU$50.00 plus postage of AU$6.85 per f/n postage (airmail) = total of AU$84.25

We normally do not send the fortnightly DVD subscription with insurance as the price gets quite high for postage, but the choice is yours and if you would prefer it we can certainly do that for you.

congradts jeremy and glen fantastic effort.
i didnt get to see any of the club class race as i was too busy keeping the challenge class in line (bloody competitors just love to push the orginisers to the limit!!). there was a great feeling throughout the whole camp the whole weekend and i would like to thank everyone for bringing along their awsome attitudes.
it is something that other motorsport competitors cannot get their head around when we loan parts, tools and even ourselves to another competitor to get them racing again and then slap them on the back when they put in a better effort than us.
there is a fantastic base for the sport to grow now so welcome abord and we will see you out on the tracks!

We have Paddys wagon (royces cruiser) sitting in my workshop at the mo, but it should have be completely
de-royce-afied and running better than ever either late this year or atleast in time for Norwest next year.

Twin stacks are gone, He has plans for a midmounted PTO and they just took up too much room everywhere, not to mention running right next to the fuel cell on both sides. Paddy has replaced it with a single exhaust exiting under the passenger side. Don't worry it still has plenty of sound
