need help with Runva Winch

Post by Dace »

For the last few months, I have been trying to fix my 12v runva winch
Over the course of time, I have pretty much striped completely the motor and solenoid pack trying to find the issue and think I know how the motor, solenoid and wiring works, but have one final problem to solve

below is 2 pics of the brush holder

now, power comes in to the brush holder via a connection to the copper bar *the small screw hole in the top pic) running across the top of the holder to the opposing brushes.

my guess is then it runs through the armature and to the other 2 opposing brushes and here my problem starts, these brushes don't seem to earth well to the brush holder chassis which would inturn pass the current to the earth attached to the motor chassis.

I believe the fault lies in this earth issue, any advice???

Hmm ....

Can you post a pic of the cap that fits over the the top of that... inside and out would be good
There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.

I have already sorted the issue and reassembled, tracked it to an earth issue between the brush holders and the brush chassis, disassembled, cleaned and rearranged how it was fotted and put some coppercote on the mating surfaces
