Re: cowpertrucks
it all depends on the weight of your wagon and the span of your hoops .from memory if over 1000kg you need 1 1/2 nominal bore "water pipe" or over 2000kg 2 inch ,i think .i could be wrong .rules and regs change about as often as most people change there undies (unless you are skid then not very often
)if you contact the comp committee or a competitor with a current comp license they will have the specs in their hand book.my book is about 3 years out of date .skid might have a current one

Re: cowpertrucks
current regs say
a) shall be constructed from grade 250 medium wall black pipe made to BS 1387-1985 specs
b) the size of the pipe used is determined by the overall weight of the vehicle and unsupported span as follows:
Vehicles up to 1000kgs - minimum 25mm nominal bore, maximum unsupported span of 1200mm
Vehicles 1000-1500 kg - minimum 32nb, maximum unsupported span of 1400
vehicles 1500-2000kgs - minimum 40nb maximum unsupported span 1600mm
vehicles over 2000kg - minimum 50nb maximum unsupported span of 1800
c) maximum unsupported span must be adhered to reguardless of vehicle weight.
d) all mounting bolts will be a minimum of 10mm high tensile steel

The Blue Cowper truck $120K
The Hulk Cowper truck $65k
You pay for what you get, catch is your paying someone to do all the hard work and design for you, then the materials on top of that, so in reality, if you got the $$, its not bad value as the do work pretty well for what they were designed to do

The Hulk Cowper truck $65k

dans first one was rumoured to be sold around the $50K mark.
a year or 2 ago, you could buy a frame off him for around $10K , but I reckon you would easily be doubling that now, coz of the popularity of them.
if you have the skills, then check out whats out there, compile your own ideas and build away
if you win lotto, then ring Dan and order whatever the hell you like
these figures are just rumours
the only folks who really know are Dan and the owners and maybe thier bank managers

think I saw a website on the back of his old mans truck, but have had enough of searching to try and find it

Re: cowpertrucks
- D class with lexus and fox shocks: $65k (as per post above)
C class with SR20DET and fox shocks (not originally built by Dan but given a big refresh - engine, body, suspension, and losing 140kg): $30k (also on trademe) http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Specialist-cars/Competition-cars/auction-258435505.htm
D class with lexus, fox shocks, rear steer, airbrushing, etc: $80k (approx).
D class with supercharged commodore, C4 auto, bilstein coilovers, etc: $60k (approx 3 years ago)
E class with SR20DET, primera auto, fox shocks: $25-30k.
I like the gear he builds (bought one myself).
They go well and the suspension works well.
If you gonna build one yourself, then you need to talk to people who know how to set up the suspension geometry so it works.
The rules (including rollcage specs) can be found at http://4x4trials.co.nz/competitorforms.aspx
