new project choices

Post by swampa »

gonna start myself a new project, got a new 1kz going in the surf in the next couple of weeks, then get rid of that, got my safari going again, getting rid of that.
so this is the theory, i want a family wagon that will keep up with the boys who now have my lux.
choice 1, 4.2 efi lwb petrol patrol, then mod it to buggery
" " 2, 4.5petrol 80 series cruiser
mods will be the same for each, rear locker, winch bar, winch, 4" snake racing lift kit and turbo, 36simexes

You can't really go wrong with either of them, plenty of aftermarket for both through Australia.

Only thing I can think of is rarity in manual for both models - but all down to you what gearbox you want...

Personally I like the shape of the 80 Series but both the short roof 89/90 LWB safari and the later model one look choice I reckon.

there was a 80 series 4.5 on t/m last week for 7500, but i forgot about it, i hate the hitop saf's, i just sold my 24v 80 series cruiser so am quite fond of them, gonna go for a kit with drop radius arms and quality shockies, no matter what brand, hope to start a build within the next 2 months

Can you get factory diff locks for Patrol? Would be looking for these if you look for a 80 series. I know a guy up in warkworth who is looking to sell his manual 4.5 petrol 80 series, never seen a beach and rust free.
