drum to disk

have swapped over the front axle and now have discs on the front ('81 FJ40). sweet - brakes in a straight line, and pulls up hard - too hard. a little inattention and it's easy to lock them up, even at low speeds stepping on the brake hard will induce a skid. brakes coming on too hard?? is ok in normal driving conditions, but am a bit worried if i have to step on the anchors (especially if wet, 33" mud tyres) will be serious lack of control. someone said something about a valve in the master brake cylinder - do i need to look at sourcing and swapping out the master / slave cylinders? am not that technical, so words of 2 syllables or less pls...

get used to the pedal, if you are coming off drums with a hard pedal and no effect when you stomp on it, it will take a while to get used to the new feel, if you look at the brake pedal in my truck you will go thru the windscreen, however you do get used to it and brake accordingly,

when I changed mine over, I had to get a different booster that had some sort of proportioning valve in it, coz of the different pressures required from drum to disc

pedro, thanks, am braking accordingly but more worried about emergency braking - she just locks up into a skid and i don't want to be in an uncontrolled situation if i can help it.

skid, thanks, i think that's what i'm after, i guess any brakes place can sort me out?
