I've got a 12 valve manual no lockers and mine also has rooted front seats, engine rebuild at 330,000 now at 410,000 with a suspect blown headgasket but it's still going strong at 15psi :D

I'll be doing a front diff rebuild very soon as my cvs click, wheel bearings sing, drive flange spits grease all over my rims and the wiper seals are gooey on the right and absolutely pissing out on the left.

I'm not sure if this is noticable much in the automatics but I've got a lot of driveline backlash from the centre diff. Lock it and it goes away, I really need a part time kit.

80 Series are tuff vehicles, I got snotted in the back by a swb Safari and the pillars didnt pull in, fit 35s without a lift although quite a lot of guard rub.

I've towed with it once and it handled it fine, people were surprised to see a 3 tonne 4wd towing a tandem trailer with another 4wd on the back passing them at 110kmh uphill in the left lane

another good tow wagon are the Disco 2 td5's. I get about 10l/100k and it goes pretty well. I havnt had any really heavy loads on the back but have towed the boat and a small car and you hardly notice them. They are rated to 3500kg aswell

I found my 98 Grand Cherokee a great tow wagon just the 100l/100km on the kilmog hills was a little thirsty...
