Torn Sidewall

Post by dvk-kp »

hi...
well i was out hunting last night and cruising along the track when i ran over a log i didnt see... a point on the log just caught the side wall and ripped a hole in it about 20mm long right thru and the whole rip is about 50mm long... 1inch to the right and i would have missed it completely and 1inch left and i would have just driven over it!!!
Its right at the top of the sidewall (will put pics up when i find the camera cable). does anyone know if this sort of thing is repairable? i cant really afford to spend money on a new tyre... they are Goodyear Wrangler MTRs in 33x12.5 size. if its not repairable to hold air can a patch be put on the inside and then have a tube fitted? i have been contemplating putting tubes in anyway.
your input will be greatly appreciated

99% of folks will tell ya its toast and cannot be repaired

If I still worked in the tyre industry, I would repair it for ya.

it can be done, but it has to be done properly and professionally, but there is always the issue of it failing a WOF, if the WOF man sees it.

most repairs like this need to be vulcanised and usually end up with a noticable bulge on sidewall.

whereabouts are ya

see if I can recommend someone
