Does Anybody Elses Lock Right Do This?

Post by STUKLUX »

Hey everyone,I just put my diff head back in today with my lokka in it and I noticed that after everything was back together if I grab the drive shaft and turn it I can move it about 20-25mm before it locks up and the wheels move, when I took it for a drive it was really noticeable when backing off and then accelerating.(a damm good clunk)which sounds bad :? Now I have never driven, been in a vehicle with one of these diffs or know anyone with one to ask if this is normal,is that just it locking and unlocking how its supposed to and I need to get used to or is something not right?cheers.

mine used to do it its cos of the pin that goes through the lokka the way it works there has to be slop in it. Pretty sure its normal. Though not with that lsd....

This sounds normal to me..have a read of the manual that came with your locka.

When cornering you should "do so under slight positive acelleration"

If in doubt RTFM

I got the lokka off trade me already in a diff head so I don't have a manual for it.I then gave it to Steelie Gears in Auckland to do the pinion seal and check it over.
I just wanted to know if other peoples lokkas behave the same as I don't know anything about them,or if I should take it back to the diff shop and get them to recheck it.

yeap mine does it
they add 25 % more backlash as a function of the locker .. the pinion drive is what locks it in and out and it works in a slot
