If you are going to use an escudo/vitara engine if you can get the 5 speed manual aswell go for it! it is stronger than the sj 5 speed. YOU DON'T NEED ANY ADAPTERS apparantly. Keeping costs down
Check out this thread:

Nice thread. Good info .
So the 413 Jack shaft will side straight into the rear of the Vitara box once the transfer case has been divorced.
Just need to Shorten the 413 jack Shaft, Widen the trans tunnel and make a new gearbox cross member.
Alot more work for only a slightly stronger gearbox.

The only thing you many want is a right angle drive kit so the dissy does not hit the firewall , try Rex he had one but not sure if he still has it . By the sound of it its a bush truck and way so maybe a firewall massage is all thats needed
if you were happy to loose the cargo space mounting a vitara tank with the efi pump already in it in the back would be the second easiest way to get a pump . The first would be a commodore inline pump .
(Go the GTI , I have one under way
)
The more I think about it the more I like the sound of it. A 100HP Extracted ,straight piped ,Suzuki screaming at 7500rpm through the bush

(they will rev to 8800 happily apparently)
Found these figures on the web.
GTI 100HP@ 6000rpm 83.2ft/lbs @ 5000rpm
1.3 8v 60 HP @ 6500rpm 76 ftlbs. of torque @ 3500 rpm
1.6 8v 80 HP @ 5400rpm 94 ftlbs. of torque @ 3300rpm
1.6 16v 95 HP @ 5600rpm 98 ftlbs. of torque @ 4000rpm
I should all ready be getting lots of reduction and torque from the Rocklobster . So the high revving GTi would be a good match to spin 32's.
How much of firewall massage is required??? I cant find any pics on the web. Right angle drives $$$
You can apparently also use a Mazda 323 GT dizzy cap with a few small mods to get around this problem.
Can the Commodore pump ,be used with the stock 413 tank? Does it need some type of surge tank/Swirl pot?.
Last question , what sort of extractors fit onto the Gti? Just trying to weight up the costs the conversion.
Cheers C.
