anyway i,ve been on my learners for 20 years, never worried about sitting full, have never even owned a 250.
own a bike shop so ride all sorts, last time pulled over..........no wof no rego, and speeding (129 kph)
was 120 dollar fine.

I think if you behave yourself on the road. Wear the right gear, the chances are you won't get pulled over. But I understand where skid is coming from.
I'm still on my bike learners as well but I ride on a 500cc dirt bike or a 1000cc road bike. I tried a 250cc when I first got my license but I was to fat for it.

Get an Aprilia skid. They're Italian, so they're naturally cool. 8)

OK then......

passed the basic handling skills course today, piss easy.

so I have another question for ya all......

lets say hypothetically, that I get my learners and then go buy a 600 and ride it around without a L plate.

lets says that for some strange reason I get pulled over by the fuzz.

whats going to be the damage :?: :?: :?: :?:

yeah fullas on kiwibiker forum have pretty much made my mind up

400 for each offence and 25 demerits

so if ya get caught on a bigger bike, speeding, carrying a pillion, out between 10pm/6am and no L plate, then thats 5 offences, $2K worth of fines and 125 demerits.

so you become broke and walking

NOT WORTH IT REALLY

No, I think they will only sting you for one of those fines.
As for what bike, get a nice original condition with low kays, ZXR or CBR, you WON'T regret it. Best part is that when you do some to sell it worst case senario is that you will loose next to nothing in terms of $$$. Not as fast as the two strokes but more reliable and easier to sell.
