hey all
just trying to fire up the 1uz
it runs when fuel is tipped into the intake, for few rpms
so i thought it was gummed injectors, ive cleaned them out and there working fine (cold start too)
now im stuck
loom has had the traction control and trans wires removed
with every other toyota ive wired up ive ran the cold start injector straight off the startor signal wire with a thermo switch conected in parallele so it doesnt fire once warm
now from what ive read it runs on the cold start before the injectors kick in
i can manualy opperate the cold start by putting batt+ to the black/white wire for a few sec's then it doesnt work
its linked to a brown thermo sensor located by the r/h distributor, when i test the sensor cold it has contunuity between both pins and each pin to body (earth) once warm there is no circuit anywhere
theres a sta pin on the ecu but it has no current coming out of it
ive got all the lextreeme diagrams and there no good
how do i wire it up?

simply dont use it you dont need it & they are known for getting moister in the sensors & staying on causing all sorts of over fueling problems
i have 3 car out of mine were it is disconnected because it played up & none of them ever have any trouble starting evan in dunedin winters
other wise if you really want it i have a wiring set up not using the computers in a tec book i can put up for ya

never head that before
the sta pin should only have 12v on it when your cranking .. if it dosent. ..then your cold start wont work at all
did you get the injectors untrasonicsed ? ... if not there probably still gummed up

it was more common on the old MA61 & MA70 supras & some early AW11 MR2`s but happened a bit still in the later years they would power up once & then when power was droped they dont quite shut so the still dribble fuel the best bit was they did this to the pressure droped witch was about 10 min after you turned it off so you then had a dry line witch made it a basted to start the next time

as for the sta terminal like sed has power for a couple of seconds on the later computer controlled or just while the key is on crank on the early ones

from what ive read on lextreem the early crowns do need them, they fire on the cold start then switch to normal
the diagrams ive looked at the sta pin on ecu only controls feul pump relay
its definatly not overfueling, if i tip fuel into the intake it fires up
i soaked the injectors in brake clean over the weekend, tapped the bigger bits out of the injector gauze, hooked a battery up to each and blew compressed air through them
then installed them into the inlet manifold ran pressurized fuel to the injector rails and opperated each to check spray pattern and to see if they were leaking
so that sta pin should go to the cold start injector (black/white stripe) instead of me hooking it up to the startor signal wire???

rong they run the main injectors on crank on all motors after 1976 there was one were they did have it like that it was the 1st EFI they sold to the market not quite how it worked but it was the 1st done by jet tronics & its out of the concept of were you are wasent on the crowns & never made it to new zealand

na controls a couple more things than just that depends on what year were talking about as to what it douse

have you checked wiring from ecu to injectors & AFM or MAP sensors
injectors sound like you should have them all good & clean then
as a note a few questions about you motor
what are
-full engin code
-the year of make
-the version of motor (if ya know there's offen 2 or 3 of the same motor just improvements in eletrics)
-auto or manual ECU
-do you have the ECU model or code or markings?
just so i can look up your wiring more at work tomorrow & see your exact wiring

its a 1st gen (cold start injector type)
manual gearbox (was originaly auto)
ecu numbers
toyota 98661-30432
17000-4100 12v
26-16-22 pin config
its a toyota type not a lexus, the toyotas run a seperate trans computer
ill post the diagrams i have tonite
should the sta ecu pin be conected to the starter signal wire and the cold start? the wires are the same colour
at the moment im maunualy cranking the cold start as its hooked up to the starter signal so maybe the computer doesnt realise its meant to be doing something
anyway time to replace the variator on my scooter

by this do you mean you are not feeding the ECU any signal to say that its cranking?

that was the case
now ive hooked it up so it gets 12v when cranking
still no joy
tried reading diagnostic codes -check light stays on
on the 22 pin ecu plug ive got 4 12v power feeds and 1 sta and the check engine light
ecu and everythings grounded
it cranks up on the cold start injector for a few turns

all sorted
the diagrams off lextreem are correct but on the 22pin plugs they show the 2 and 4 larger pins in reverse sides of the plug
swaped em round and it cranked straight up, idled reved sound sweet
