rear disk brake in sammy

Post by new2zukes »

well i keep having trouble with my rear drum brakes so thought would be a good idea to get my act together and put some disks on. cut part of the drum off for backing plate then pulled hubs off the front disk rotors. now all i got to do is clean it all up cut the back plate thing that stops the axle coming out so the rotors dont hit. and weld on the brake mounting point.

Good luck with the build up :) the more pics the better :D I plan on rear discs on my sj413 soon, unsure whether to try and find a caliper that has an E-brake on it, or try and do a disc brake conversion on the E-brake on the back of the transfer case aswell.

well got a lil more done tonight got the backing plate cut and the caliper mounts in place. then put it all together to see if it all will work, might need to pack out the caliper a little but thats no bigey.
my little problem now is that the studs are abit too short by about 10mm or 15mm where would be the cheapest place to get some new longer studs, i went to ripco but they wanted $170 for 10 studs  id love to not pay that much, any help would be great. the studs need to be about 55 or 60 mm top to bottom.
