vehicle classes for national trials

can some one list what the classes are for the national trials and what you can and cant have for each

really roughly...

A class - production - 4 cylinder, can change engine/gearbox/transfer. Diffs, suspension has to be standard as leaves factory, max tyre 31inch

B class - 6/8 cylinder version of the above, but no one entered this season, may be able to run 35s?

C - class. 4 cylinder, anything goes, tube frame, running gear, lockers, fiddles, 35inch max tyre size, etc etc

D class 6/8 cylinder version of C class

E class - 4 clylinder. 33 inch tyres max. Any axles/diffs (huh to hub), one end must retain vehicles factory susp - ie leaf spring or coil mounts etc, the other end is "open". Fiddle brakes one end only. Must use full factory body shell.

F class - 6/8 cylinder version of E class. 35 inch tyres max

Many Many other rules, but thats a real brief over view. just to give you a general gist between classes.

There is G class, but again no one runing this season that I know of so yeah....

sweet thanks been trying to get a rule book so i could sort out were i was going with class etc
meant to be new ones printed in the next week or so

Only bit extra is E & F the end you are allowed to rework the suspension is the front end back must be standard down to the mounting tabs if you replace the axle

hi , am lookin at entering but gradual and b class could be my entry point, would having rancho shockies stuff me up though, fj 40 runnin a 307 , would this stuff me up as not standard as well, cheers warwick

You can remove the roof on all classes, the gard issue is a bit silly by the book you are allowed to cut your inner/outer/firewall to allow fitting of bigger tyres, right upto the bonnet the catch is there is also a rule that states aftermarket replacement gards must not weigh less than original.... so some of the scrutineers have taken this to mean you arn't allowed to lighten the gards when clearancing, meaning you can cut and fold just not remove now if you rock up to some of the events you'll notice this isn't applied evenly some guys have them folded up and others have cut it right out this nolonger applies to me I've had to flar mine so I've got more metal than standard

This is factory standard open diffs no mods other than a roll cage so standard motor and box axles etc

Nope, no problem so long as you haven't replaced the springs, you can have the springs reset but not replaced... so aftermarket lifted springs are out

no, only standard suspension

g class is aloud lockers if they are a factory item, hilly had a gclass pajero with a factory rear locker a few years ago

so with g class you can cut off the roof and make more room for bigger wheels but you got to stay standed other than that

no, g glass guards have to be standard but roof can be chopped down to the height of the windscreen base or to no lower than it left the factory as a soft top. max tyre size is 31x12.5

If you are planning to enter next season it may be a good idea to get yourself a rule book

im in dunedin been wating for a rule book to get here but they ment to be printing new ones or some think. as far as i know no one down this way enters the nationals
