Well, not yet - but I will be picking one up in a week or two...
I'm planning to keep the cab, windscreen, and gearbox as spares for my 40, but I've already got spares for just about everything else...
Anyone want any specific bits? Make a reasonable offer & I'll strip it to order. I'm not expecting stupid money for parts, but I'm not giving things away either. Well, not yet anyway - in 6 months I'll probably give away whatever is left...
It was last running about 3 years ago when it was parked up & replaced by a 70 series. Was running well, and was intended to be used as a farm hack, but didn't work out that way. Flat battery, so the 70 got used, & the poor old girl just sat there. So there should be a good 3B diesel - had a recond head at some stage apparently.
Probably a LSD rear - will check when I get it...
In Blenheim, but I can get bits to ChCh if theres no hurry.
BJ45 Landcruiser flat-deck wrecking
Re: BJ45 Landcruiser flat-deck wrecking
Got the old girl today - checked oil, water & no birdsnests in the intake, just needed a new battery & fired up first go. Seems too good to wreck, but the rego & WOF are long dead (1998). Some rust patches in the corners of the roof, running boards, and the bottom of the doors, but nothing serious or structural. Brakes were very dodgy, but I've put in a spare master cylinder & after a bleed they're heaps better. Probably only needs a bit of brake shoe adjustment to be close to WOF standard. Not sure what to do now...
Anyone know what's involved in getting it re-registered? Does it need a full certification check or just drop into the postshop & fill out the form... Any idea of cost?
I figure it's probably worth around $1500 as is, maybe double that if it's road legal. In parts, who knows? Good 3B motor, 4 speed gearbox, radiator, starter, alternator, cab, diffs, springs, driveshafts, doors, panels, etc. Maybe quite a bit, but a fair bit of work in it, and then the bits only have value when someone wants them, so may take quite a while... I'm inviting honest feedback - what should I do???
Anyone interested in buying as is?
Cheers

Re: BJ45 Landcruiser flat-deck wrecking
re reg is not too bad. You'll walk out paying about $500, but that includes 1 year rego (about $200) a wof ($30-35), new plates ($15) so it only really costs $250ish.
Have to take it to a testing station, to put it simply they give it a 'fussy wof'. Just make sure you have proof of ownership. I had a receipt of purchase, (hand written note) and had to get a police confirmation that it hadn't been reported stolen.
That was in 2004. Who knows how many times they have changed the laws and fees since.

Bump
For sale as-is for now. If there's no interest, I'll wreck it for parts. I can A-frame it to ChCh if necessary..
