brothers looking at buying a range rover, its got recoed engine,
just after a general view on these... what are they like, are parts cheap and easy to come by, any faults?

It all depends on the vehicles history. A lot were imported from the UK used, they salt the roads there. If the speedo is in miles, then it's probably a used uk import.

Parts are common and cheap, the stock axles are bagged by many but it depends how they're driven. Electrics are the worst problem, followed by cosmetics such as sagging roof linings etc.
Check for rust in the front footwells (betwen the aluminium outer guard and the steel footwell) and in the body under the tailgate.

Stock they outflex pretty much every other vehicle and with a few mods do even better. A set of firmer shocks or front radius arm bushings will tame the on-road handling.

The worst thing is if it's been worked on by a mechanic that didn't quite get it.

yep I agree kiwibacon. Best 4wd suspension out the factory by far.

When you buy a rover you dont buy one for reliability, you buy it for the character. Japanese = no character

Running gear wise, the diffs and axles let them down, but the motor, gearbox (most anyway) and transfers are excellent units
