Hilux Ute rear recovery hook

Post by williamhamilton »

Hi, the rear of my Hilux has a removable to bar (see pics). Would this be sound enough to hold a recovery hook (do not want a lecture from Jerry you see!!!)... build a straight bit of thick steel and drill couple of holes for hook and rear holding pin?

(sorry pics are below size limit but still not like them)

If so, any engineering type folk wanty give me a quote :)
30mm thick (currently two welded together - bottom slimmer than top)
64mm wide
309mm long (locking pin hole centre to current bash plate) will need length to allow recovery hood to be added to this figure.
approx 22mm (dia) for locking pin hole

Hope the above makes sense

cheers and tia

I believe it should be strong enough

I had a 50mm square removable tube for mine, that was only held in place by one 16mm pin and it took a beating and never gave up.

Take the time out of yr busy schedule, and wander into Wellington, talk to Stinky. I kinow, costs are always a problem, but better to have it done properly in case you have to do a snatch from that mount.

Also, you WILL get a properly rated towbar etc.

added benefit is putting work in the way of club and forum members
