Hilux Engine Swap

Post by Sniper »

Hi all :)

Going to replace the 3L in a LN107 Hilux (IFS) with a 1KZ-TE & Auto and would like any advise from anybody that's done this or something similar before. Once I've moved the 'lux engine mounts back and modified the trans tunnel to fit the auto it looks like the rest will be pretty basic. Will the 1KZ loom and computer be a simple "plug and play" or is there more to it? Will I need to swap the instrument cluster as well? Also need to mod the driveshaft, would the LN 2piece or the KZN 1piece be better to use?

That's all I can think of for now :?, any advise will be greatly received. :D

i am doing this exact conversion in my LN65 at the moment. i am usind a 1994 1KZ-TE and auto from a KZN130 surf. You are right about the engine mounts, they will have to be moved about 2" back. The trans tunnel should't have to be modified much, all i had to do was cut a larger hole for the shifter. i used the transmission crossmember out of my 1KZ-TE auto surf doner truck and that bolted straight in. as for the driveshatfs use the front one out of a KZN130 surf but with the auto box the section of the driveshaft from the 'box to the center bearing will have to be sortened by around 80mm as the auto is longer. the surf single piece will be too short. as for the wiring that takes time and money. with your truck being a LN107 the instrument cluster will bolt in and the wiring should run almost perfectly as KZN130 surfs run the same interior etc. hope this helps. regards marc
