Ok cool. I am looking at wheels and tyres now too. Would 15x10 steelies be a good option with 32x10.5 tyres?

With both the lifts how wide could I go? I'd like as wide as I could go. :)

Cheers.

15 x 8 with -15 to - 24 offset... or somewhere thereabouts. Theyre not that common to come across at the mo.

Like that sorta thing, but 5 stud? What size tyres could I put on that?

Here we go: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 797343.htm

That should fit?

No it wont fit mate. That will fit zuks and the CJ series of Jeeps. Ours are the same stud pattern as the Fords and 5 stud tojo cars. 5 stud 4.5 inch... or if you prefer 5 stud 114.3mm pcd. As i said, theyre rare these days. Give the guys a call at Drury Tyres as they had some a while ago, of which i got their last one at the time for a spare.
The 5 stud 114.3 pcd 15 x 7 inch wide rims are easy as pie to get, the 8 and 10s are nigh on impossible, esp at the neg 19 to 24 offset.

Oh I see so could be a bit of a mission. I've sent them an email, see how I go I guess..

Are hub adapters an option?

Cheers.

not a legal option.... apparently. Seems to be a grey area that i stopped looking into some time ago. Some say utterly no way jose, others say as long as the total track width is not extended by more than 25mm. Ive not been able to find anything in the Low Vehicle Volume Cert rules surrounding them either.

Short version: Dunno

OK well I'm going to order the following now...

Rubicon Express TJ 2” Spacer System (W/ Monotube Shocks)
JKS TJ 1.25" Body Lift

Will that definitely work with my 97' Wranger TJ. I can give those kits to my mechanic and that's all that will be needed?

Just want to double double check before I order something from overseas.

Thanks heaps for all the help.

Agree, if it was Wooders, give Dave a call and he will process it over the phone. For someone who was in the IT industry, Dave is not huge with emails.. Otherwise you can chew his ears for hours on Jeeps.

Body lift needs 11 bolts undoing and doing for the mounts and 4 bolts for the fan shroud. Easy enough to do in the driveway. Save the labour and use it for another mod.

Could just get mechanic to do the shocks.. that be a quick job with a hoist ah?

Does the jeep need to be jacked up at all to do the body lift? Like if you do one at a time how do you squeeze in the bigger busher when the rest of the body is lower?

Take the front centre one out.... and the 5 down one side only. Jack it up, take to old out, slip the new in, place the bolts, tightish, but not superman tight.

Place the front one it, but leave the bolt real loose (i made the mistake of leaving it until last... not a clever thing to do)

Repeat with the other side.

With the radiator rubberry thingies..... slip a length of wire or something through the end, and slide that up through the hole first, then pull the wire through from outside the radiator grill and it will pop right on through.

Shocks can be doe with it sitting on the ground if need be. Three nuts to undo on the front ones and three to do on the back ones (i think..... yeah, sure there is) and youre away.

Loosen all 11, but DO NOT TAKE THEM OUT ALL AT ONCE (when you jack one side of the body to take the bolt out completely, it will slip down the other side!!! thats why only loosen ever so little on the opposite side to give them a bit of space to flex). Otherwise as XJ said. Also when jack up one side of the body, don't lift it too much - just enough to slip the pucks in on top of the rubber body mounts.

Front shocks might need you to take the tyres off. Rear ones do not even need removal of the tyres.

Hey just doing the body lift now and got everything in. The kit came with a T-Case Shift Linkage, little plate with holes in it. Do I need to change that?

Some say yes, some say not. Rule of thumb.... if youre doing a motor mount lift, then dont use the plate. If the motor is staying where it is, then use the plate.

Having said that, when i did a one inch body lift on the Wifes Renegade, all that was needed was to undo the grub screw on the linkage and slide it around a bit, then do the grub screw back up and everything worked well.

Now I have the problem off the petrol tank hose not reaching where the cap would screw in. What would you do about that?

Body lift seems like it's got more problems than everyone says!

I managed to stretch it to where it should be and it's not too bad now, usable. So everything done now except the T-Case Shift Linkage, I don't know really what to do for that one yet, I'll see how it goes and maybe do it when I do the suspension lift.
