haha
have seen these around theres not really alot in it price wise between all 3 of these,,,, good sidewall probably the main thing

Re: Thoughts on kumho kl71 vs maxxis bighorns
If you want a long wearing tyre, Nankang, if you want a better off road tyre, I'd go for either of the others.
Only thing I don't like about the Kumho's is I've never been a fan of directional tyres, only because I never seemed to puncture the side that suited the spare (my spare always ended up backwards when put on
)
Not a big problem though, I'd probably run a non directional as a spare

Re: Thoughts on kumho kl71 vs maxxis bighorns
The KL71s would run circles around both the Nankangs and Maxxis on road especially in the wet, if that is your main concern.
The Bighorn is the most aggressive M/T of the 3 mentioned so far, the only complaint I have of them is the tread life so far is looking a bit average, however my wheel alignment is shocking. The Bighorn has some decent side wall tread for a radial.
I would go for the Nankangs if budget is the main factor, the Bighorn for offroad performance and the KL71 for road manners.

Love my KL71's. Done about 20k on them and they have only worn a mm or two. Excellent onroad grip for a MT, quiet, and I reckon they grip offroad as well as my BFG MT's did. Run them on road at 35 and they handle better than the BFG's did at 40psi.
Re: Thoughts on kumho kl71 vs maxxis bighorns
I got KL71's on my L200 hunting truck.
Great tyres. Quiet, good wearing, grip well in all the conditions I've been in so far, plus I got them CHEAP.
Would definately recommend these tyres!

What are these like on steep sidelings. I currently run 33x12.5 BFG MT's and find them very squishy and floppy on sidelings when aired down ( approx 12-14 psi ). Not a very confidence inspireing feeling. I am going up to 35's and imagine the problem would be even worse.
Probably just a radial tyre thing.
cheers

Re: Thoughts on kumho kl71 vs maxxis bighorns
will the 33s go on the std nissan 15x7 white spoke rims??and offset ok??
Re: Thoughts on kumho kl71 vs maxxis bighorns
We recently changed from Bighorns to KL71. Both are about the same in terms of tyre noise on the tarmac, KL71 just ahead on tarmac grip. Bighorns seemed soft in the side wall, but then the KL71s are 18 inch. We never had a chance to really test the bighorns off road (always just worked) and haven't tested the KL71s yet, next weekend. We use bighorns for off road racing, chewed a couple of mm out of them thrashing them over 200km. Rick seems to like the KL71s off road, http://www.4wdbits.co.nz/RickCrosbieKL71.pdf
Re: Thoughts on kumho kl71 vs maxxis bighorns
Kl71 and maxxis bighorn both good tyres, esp the kl71 for serious offroading. But you mention you are after something that will suit you for hunting in rough terrain plus fair amount of onroad driving, and the Nankang mudstar N889 will do this well for you.
Have done 16k on a set, quite a few hunting trips and maybe 20 club 4wd tracks now and find them very good. Wear well, exc grip in offroad conditions, and best of all the price. Still available at just under $250 for 33s.
Budget price but surprisingly effective allround on/off road mudgrip.Have had many sets of muds but these would be the surprise package. Recommended - esp for what you want to do.

Yep. They will fit easily. By fitting 12.50 tyres to 7 inch rims you will be less likely to pop a bead when running low tyre presures off road.
Re: Thoughts on kumho kl71 vs maxxis bighorns
