Yip, I'm fairly certain that its going to take me longer to finish my truck than Nibby. Good things take time

Haven't heard from Nib for a while. From his latest developments, I think his build will take longer than yours mnc.
Both your trucks will be awesome once you get them together. They will make mine look slapped together I recon. I couldn't wait for the finished job, like you guys can. It would drive me nuts.

Have just purchased a Fiberglass tub & recently blasted FJ40 Chassis.

Plan is to do all the mods i've wanted to do to my mud truck but since they'll cost a few $$$ will start from scratch and try to get it on the road.

Here is the starting point... Lets see how many years this project takes

Ooh almost two years :P

Yeah, I think you might need to call Guinness and register your last build as the fastest major rebuild in the history of ORE 8)

Thinking of organizing a keg and having a working weekend on it - that should get me motivated and a few mates keen to join in :P

 Not if I'm not working on it  Few guys at the club have suggested a few beers might motivate all to fix the transfer case in the brown 40 which I haven't got round to yet

Much like my builds, posting pics takes time  Nothing exciting yet and I'm at the Trials this weekend so will be sometime in the future

I see you've added more pics to your photobucket, so does this mean more works been done?
And when's the wee lass/lad poppin out?

Ah, so your are the one who has subscribed to my Photobucket account

I sent some photos to vvega but they aren't the latest one's. I need a hand wiring up the lexus - and some motivational support

Bubs due end of June - I've got 2 weeks off then so might make some progress on the truck  (yes I said might!)

Sorry - am slack on the photos - got the front panels on and steering done plus rear shocks but that's about it.

Here is most recent pic's showing progress made...

Thats right, I've made NO progress

But, about to commence the following:
1. Convert vacuum 4wd selector on 70 series 5spd box to manual stick shift from 40 series 4spd setup (will put pic's up),
2. New body lift blocks (actually smaller that existing) to drop body onto chassis as low as possible,
3. Finish high steer setup,
4. Brackets to mount new seats,
5. New front guard brackets to achieve 50mm lift under guards,
6. Attach front pannels ready to go off to sparkey, and then
7. Paint.

OK, so since Gimmemud dragged this build out again... an update (photos to come  )

1. Will be easy but haven't done it yet,
2. Done, lowered body as far as possible (even had to grind back some of rear bar under the wheel arch (as seen in Nibby's build thread).
3. High steer - Done.
4. Seats - Done. All mounted
5. Guards - Done, but at standard height. Looks level with rear arch's so will leave as is for now.
6. Front panels - Done. All front panels on except bonnet.
7. Paint - not done. Have other priorities first like brakes, front shock hoops, and wiring.

Actually quite a bit ticked off that list - but still heaps to go

OK, few more pic's for ya...

Lowered the body as far as could go (with only minor trimming required):

Mounted Rear shocks:

Power Steering Box mounted (moved out a bit to allow Lexus to sit lower):
Image

Front Panels are on (and seats in):
Image

Engine bay (yes I know still a bit to add in here):
Image

Have mounted the guards at the standard height for now to match height of rear wheel arch:

Going to do brakes next... hopefully followed shortly by installing rear diff head and sorting out drive shafts...

As you're running leaf springs are you using a track bar on that rear diff?

15x10's, guessing offset is -44. I got them second hand in bad shape (pitted) so they weren't too pricey. Was excited about getting beadlock rims till I saw these ones are just for looks

Hmm pretend beadlocking rims. :D
Oh well. They LOOK great.

I wonder what the going rate for street legal bead locking rims are. I bet they aren't cheap.

I did try looking through your thread to see what you've done to the rear diff mnc but I couldn't find anything. Though I was just looking for pix. I wasn't going to read all 12 pages.

Yep, cut the lip off the rim, weld in a plate, weld another plate to the cut off lip, drill and tap 36 holes into each rim, and thats unpainted though, gotta do all the finishing of your self, i.e strip back to bare steal and rust proof and paint/powder coat.

Went down to the Tron this Saturday to visit Vvega & DieselBoy. Took the 40 down there as its been locked inside for soo long

Caught up with a few of the guys from ORE down there which was great to put some faces to the user names.

On Sunday made up a new high tech instrument panel out of ply:

Put in a isolation switch and round mushroom button which look pretty as you can see in this short vid:

PS, Big thanks to the Waikato boys who actually did all the hard work on Saturday - you guys are legends :!:

My camera doesn't capture the sounds well but you get the idea - I'm stoked :!:

Will do dude. I'm motivated as - now the engine starts it all seams to be very real

Sure there are heaps of little jobs left but will start picking them off. I have 2 weeks off when baby is due so am hoping can get some truck time then

List now:
1. Machine rear hubs and disc's - run rear brake lines,
2. Drive shafts,
3. Clutch (all),
4. Mount dash and gauges,

That seams like a pretty small list but will get me to stage when I can test drive around the farm track 8) (just easy as I promise).
