so it would look something like this

but then i would need to get a decent soft top made

it would probably drop the weight by half a ton though considering how mercedes ahve built the rest of it

would you try and make it hard top just above the drivers/passengers position then make it soft top rear? ( hard top similar to when a surf has its roof off?)

full soft top would be cool too though.. also, half a tonne is half a tonne.. get it on a diet and power to weight ratios look more favourable..

i like the idea.. was sorta thinkin somethin similar on my 40 but, eh, jeep styles or nothing.

you'll have to make sure you have a roof fabbed up before gettin to ambtious with rippin it apart.. :D

let us know what ya do, and pics, lots of pics!

I had to go through the same decision with the landrover. Leave roof off or go open top. Open top won 8) much more enjoyable

oh no now i have another idea floating around in my head

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Car-parts-accessories/Mercedes/auction-60998729.htm

a nice little straight 6 they managed to sqeeze them into a 190e body so it shouldn't be a hassle to fit it in the g wagen and a nice price too
