Probaly not the best of photos, but heres the latest silly thing ive done to the hilux........
Ever wondered if a Nissan GQ front diff head would fit into a cruza housing and give you a high pinion diff without going to a 8" hilux sized one?

Why would you want to sacrifice clearance with a Big diff head ? All the latest cruisers have the high pinion 8 inch at the front.

I would take rather take strength over ground clearance any day of the week, and by putting the nissan head in I managed to shave 25 mm of the cruza diff housing, it must be pretty close to having the same ground clearance as a hilux diff now.

no they are the same size. you must either have a broken measuring stick or are a mathmatical retard

you have 36.6 inch tires and have 310
i have 34.5 ish tires and have 315
so with ruffly a 2.2 inch bigger tire you still have less ground clearance under the pumpkin

so 1.2 inch + 5 mm = ruffly 35 mm more clearance than you

so in theory aside from gaining mass's of unsrung weight hes only lost 10mm of ground clearance at the lowest point by shaving a inch off his pumpkin

but then if you shaved a hilux housing ......
if you have a measured 35" tire and a 9" ringear the best you could hope to get is 13" of clearance
and that is 330. mm ... no allowance for anything
340.mm for a hilux 8"

hope that helps

Wow that diff swap is very interesting, Did you break the old diff?
what was required to fit the diff?
did the axle shafts need modification? did you have to cut off the old diff bolt flange and weld a new one on?

I would like to say that it was a difficult swap, but i'd be lying-
Made a spacer to move the GQ head back a small amount and spigoted that into the cruza housing, and I borrowed a gq front locker which I put the side gears out of my old locker into.
Seems to work at the moment, but havent given it a good test yet.
The ozzys seem to do the conversion quite a bit into 80 and 100 series diffs and theres a bit about the swap on outerlimits.
Only did it to get rid of the double cardin joint that I was running on the front driveshaft.

Measured it with my 34.5" tires on and got 310mm to the ground.
You would definently get more out of a hilux diff.
But whats important is that I have 25mm more clearance than what I started with.
