replacing a motor I can carry around by myself (and Im not a big fella) with a big heavy motor is not usually such a great idea.

A 4age or 16v vitara motor is a much better option

put a vg30dett in it i had one built that could produce 1000hp big single turbo the long block cost me 20k to build alone its for sale was on trademe a short while ago that would help ya clear the tyres

nah mate in all honesty they are yery problematic motors they go hard and yes its hard to drive them sensibly but i had issues with coil packs, transistor packs, blew 2 pairs off turbos, ended up killing a cylinder
on my 3rd POS 70 cruiser still havent learnt

yha i wish. That would be a hole lot of fun.Ive got a manual v6 now we have had it for about nine years and never had a broblem with it yet.Thats y i thougt the motor would be good they go very well.Should turn 33'' good enough. Ive found the diff head is on the wrong side shouldn't be to hard to change. Has anyone used a front wheel drive gearbox on one instead of the normal gearbox and transfercase. It would be a lot lighter.

heaps of trials guys do this but as a club truck you would run out of gears (4.1 diffs can be to low ratio) and have no firewall

beg to differ mitch

some guys running the front drive gearboxes are running 5.29s and then the rest are running all sorts right down to 3.7s

pedro just went from 4.88s to 4.5s to 4.3s and was gonna go 4.1s with no worries at all

different boxes must have different ratios

faaaark knows

all I know is that theres heaps of different diff ratios being run

Here's another reason to keep it light :) :)

There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.

righto then

I had a sneaky suspiscion about something, so when my flattie got home tonight I asked him what he'd done to his trials truck as I wasnt sure.

so here it is then, he has the Speights Suzuki Trials truck

basically a LJ80 with hilux running gear and cage etc etc etc, but the main thing is he runs a VG30 Maxima motor running thru the standard maxima front wheel drive gearbox, he has to run 3.7s.

so there ya have it

go hard and have fun
