Passenger drop solid axle

Post by Jafa »

What truck has a solid front axle with a passenger side diff head?
I thought Jeeps had that?, what else?

Yes, most Dana's such as Jeeps and P38 Range Rovers is all I could come up with. Which is why most people when doing a solid swap to a Paj use a Prado or Hulix housing and flip the pumpkin and rotate the balls.
SWB V6 Paj with one or two mods ;)

hi there, i have a navara that i have done a solid axel swap on, and also needed a passengers side drop, i was looking at the jeep and range rover axel but being 5 stud and probably more expencive parts, i wasnt impressed with either idea.

toyota diffs are easy to find and have the Lockrite available for them whitch my nissan didnt so i went toyota for the rear aswell,

toyota diffs come in many ratios between 5.1;1 up to around 4.1;1 in the 8inch diff head,

but it is as simple as getting a hilux front beam fliping it, cut the swivell balls off and rotate, some grinding to make way for the crown wheel to go in the other way, and cut the dipped plate off the front side of the diff and rotate to reweld once again for the crown wheel clearance, a few other small mods along the way breather, drain bung, spring mounts ect,

may aswell fit a new bearing and seal kit to the swivels atleast, while its all apart...

i went for a prado diff head as it had the high pinion mount and therefore lessened my ridding drive shaft angle,

have done all the axel work myself so iff youd like to ask a few pointers or would like some help or work done the give me a txt or call on 021499561 and we can sort out any querries you may have...

every one i talked to before doing this told me either it couldnt be done or that without a 6 stud left hand drop available that it would all be too expencive...... well i took that as a challenge and would like to let others know that it can always be done, if its what you want then keep looking and keep asking, ignore the answers you dont want and look for the ones you need...

hope this helps you in your mission and yeah like i say any questions just get in touch, happy to help
