Whats the diff between them Marty, got pictures? Is the hitch receiver one the one with the towball? In that case I will take one
Does it for in the standard 4 bolt "T" shaped receiver?

Whats the story with these hooks and going on club runs? since they are not rated to give way safely they probably wouldn't pass?

those pics are pretty-but we need prices!
I'm pretty keen on a pintle hook- the bolt on sort. Guessing you wont sell out any time soon? I've blown the budget this week.

Would depend on the paticular clubs how hook policy, I only use a pintle on the back of my truck and prefer it to hooks, the strop cant fall off when it goes slack and being a heavy truck it makes a more even pull distrubuting the load more evenly accross both chassis rails..... oh yeah and stinky reinforced my back cross member with a great big piece of channel

Re: Pintle Hooks

Re: Pintle Hooks
yep special order only pm me for price
Re: Pintle Hooks
Just out of interest, if anyone has one and is a 4wd club member, how did you go with the standard "no tow ball tow" rule. Just real curious on how club safety officers see these. I think they are safe as personally.

apart from the thickness of the pintle part thingy
what exactly is the difference between snatching off this or snatching off ya standard towball
looks dodgy to me

It is a rated towball, look at the thickness of the mounted towball compared to the one next to it. Somewhere I have a box for one and it stipulates that non factory towballs cannot replace the factory ball

Re: Pintle Hooks
My 10c
The Pintle and towball would appear to have a rating overall of 5 Tons , assuming this is metric that equates to 11023lbs, which is a bit more than a rated 10000lb hook, the "towball" on it is thicker than a standard one, the non towball ones are rated to 8 ton / 17636lbs
Most strops are rated to 8000lb/3.628 ton, The strop will give way first
some recoveries I've seen are people trying to pull the f..k off the hook or break the strop, if a gentle or good strop will not work then its maybe time to consider winching the stuck vehicle out or digging it a bit rather than "excessive stropping".
Mounting of these needs to be considered into the equation as these do not let go like the rated hooks do...., no point bolting it up to the back of your truck if you are using small/factory unrated bolts or there is not enough support behind it......with both my LJ's Stinky reinforced the mount and behind it to support it properly.
Like anything including rated hooks and strops if correctly fitted and/or used these are safe.....
