had one of these on my old truck when i got it,its bolted to a bracket on top of my rear diff and goes up to the chassis just behind the gearbox to stop diff rotating under load but what i want to know is...
do i need it,other lifted hiluxs etc dont all have them.Is it safe to remove it
Depends on how bad the axle tramp is. If it twists up really well chance's are the springs are very pliable and the axle tramp will be quite bad with out it. Snapped ubolts and/or broken leaf's are a pia when you are out.

It is HiLux as you stated is it? If it still has the std steering and original beam axle and springs, there should be a small track bar to stop the axle from brake steering. Front springs are also shorter (but still longer than most cruisers) than the rears, and hence have less leverage.
You can yank the rear one out, just be aware of the amount of axle tramp you may get. It is easy to check, just park it up against something solid and have someone try to drive forward slowly while you are watching the amount of twist the rear axle induces.

i see what you mean.no sorry its a 70 series cruiser i was talking with a mate who has a lifted hilux and he didnt have a rear one hence my thinking and another friend who has also removed the small front one that you pointed out.i watched it battling a bank and the was a little twisting on it.
the cruiser has quite heavy spring packs on it.but i will do the test you said thanks for this,was not sure at all but figured there must be a reason
