93 surf, anyone know them well?

Post by sparx »

I'm looking at this here surfy http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... d=58138593
I'm not sure if it's IFS or SAS, whats a SAS conversion worth and how much is it going to set me back? is it even worth doing?

The list of queries I have for it are Diesel mileage, Locking diff or LSD, hub type, shock type, rust and service history.

Whats the lifespan on the 3L turbo diesel?
Can anyone give me a bit of quick advice on what else to look for?
Im going to ring the bloke and go have a look tomorrow.

Any advice greatly appreciated

Matt said it, its an IFS truck... Surfs only came in solid axle varieties in 84 and 85.

Yes it can be SASd, and you'd have a damn fine truck when it was done... The 1KZ is a nice motor, just get it checked properly before you buy it.

Check your PMs

cylinder leak down test is the first thing before any .

and ask the guy if its got the dreaded dual mass fly wheel or the solid ,you want the solid .

as far as im aware these are the thousand dollar questions ,and what a stupid place to put a winch

good luck

well i ended up buying a 94 with only 90K on the clock, its bloody hard to find the 3.0D in a 5 speed btw.
so i guess now I can expect to fork out another 7 grand getting it offroad worthy but it was well worth it for the low mileage
