Installing a boost gauge, just need some clarification. My gauge has 3 wires coming out of the back
BLACK-ground (earth). negative
WHITE-'night lamp' (guage light)
ORANGE- positive
Am i right in thinking that you join the negative and positive together and secure them to the body somewhere for an earth, and then run the white wire to the cigarette lighter light or ash tray light? (hilux surf)
or do you just earth the black to the body, then join the white and orange together and run to cigarette light for power/ light?
Thanks, Tomo.
gauge wiring
Re: gauge wiring
oh please gowd no
12v... orange goes to a switched 12v source ..
12v.... white....night lamp connects to a wire that has 12v when you turn your lights on
earth ... black.... put a eye on it and screw it into the body
unsure why you need a switched 12v .. is the guage smoked or something ?

Re: gauge wiring
probably dims at night time? though cant say i've seen an aftermarket gauge that does that.
Just leave the night time one disconnected if you are finding it too difficult.

unsure if it dims. will it work in the mean time if i just earth it? i.e not commecting the night light or the switched v12.
not very good with electrics

Re: gauge wiring
It should work with none of the wires connnected -just connect the piping from your manifold to the gauge and should be ready to go. Make sure all the joins in the piping are good and tight, as it runs a positive pressure when on boost, it is easy to leak if not tight then get false readings.
SWB V6 Paj with one or two mods

I'm unsure as to if they still work at night time. I've never been able to tell.
