Urgent Help required in AK area, heat problems

Post by stoneym »

So I got the engine put in last week by a trusted mechanic in the mount, drove it up to Auckland last night and made it up without a single problem. I then went for a drive to locate a liquor shop and the radiator boiled over. I am parked up in newmarket at the moment at a friends house but need to get back on the road as I'm working on monday in mount.
Is there anyone in Auckland that knows something about 5m and 6m motors, that can come out and have a look at my baby? I would greatly appreciate some help today or tomorrow.
I believe the issue is that the thermometer for my two radiator fans is not connected, and I also noticed that I have no electrics on my oil level and water temp gauges.
I am reasonably mobile as well as I can top up the rad and drive short distances, so I could potentially meet you guys somewhere.
Give me a text or a ring if you are keen to lend me a hand, even if you just give me some info over the phone it would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say that when driving slower there isn't enough air flowing over the radiator... but you seem to know that already.

Whyd ya risk it with no fans?.. that was silly

just wire them up manually. let the thermostat control the temp.

Problem solved!
A big thanks to Matt4U and especially coxy but also those who posted for helping me out.
After an informative chat with Matt and a helpful visit from coxy it is sorted.
The temperature gauge is reading now and my fans are working nicely.
Still no oil pressure reading but i know i'm full up so should be nicely set for the drive home. Thanks also to the offroad express forums for facilitating my solution so well.

the standard m series oil pressure sender is only a light onoff sensor, take teh one off your old engine and screw it in place of the on on there at the moment and connect the wire up

the gauge in his truck was a high low pressure reader thing like in my safari, when we first turned the ignition on it read high till the motor started
