Every body remebers The 50??
Thats still in the shed, driven on Sundays, when the weather is good. Yeah right, last time i had that out, I ended up Thomsons, going tough truck style up Mt Elisa in the pooring rain, stoved the front diff head into the crown wheel, bent the windscreen frame, bent a few more bits, winched it on its side against a bank up hill for about 200m, you get the picture

Thunderguts on the other hand, its wide, got fawk loads of power, and its fawkin heavy. Makes for fun combination when its slippery and wet. Draw backs are, when it is wet and slippery, it tends to go where it wants to, being wide, it means you are stuck driving in the ruts, which means you gotta have bigger tyres than everybody else

Also, having been to a few winch challenges recently, and spending all weekend watching 2500kg plus trucks dissappear up to the windows at the first sign of mud got me thinking.........
First off, i thought about The 50, i have all the bit's to make it quite a bit better than it currently is, stronger axles, several engines to use for a rebuild, tripple carbs and expansion chambers etc etc. One day i might get off my arse and do it

Some how or other i ended up with this:

Its done a couple of seaons running A Class, so was getting a bit scruffy, and in need of some minor mechanical TLC.
Thought i would get the panel work done first:

Made some doors too. 4mm alloy.

Apparently it had some cooling issues, wonder if this could be something to do with it??

So the plan??
Well, i want to see if I can keep it Nat Trials A Class legal, Winch Challenge Clubclass legal, and bush tough.
Basically, that means having a windscreen, doors, roof, cargo barrier, lockers and winch that are removeable or able to be disabled .
I picked up a convertable windscreen frame and windscreen, so thats sorted. Easy to remove for Nat's. Doors and roof and cargo barrier can stay on.
I'm day dreaming about attaching my Warn 8274 to the front of it, but it's a whole lot of winch to try and hang off the front of a zook and keep the approach angle good, and doesn't do much for the weight distribution. Its about 50kg, so looking to maybe mid mount it, but don't like the dramas it ceates when something goes wrong with the rope.
Might have to run airlockers, that way i can disable them easily to run A Class. Very tempted to give the Chinese 1's a go, because i haven't heard any first hand stories about them yet, and somebody's gotta give em a go eh???
Oh, and every trucks gotta have a name.
There's :
Wopass
Bulletproof
Thunderguts
Mudslutt
So to keep with the slightly cheesey theme, im gonna name it:
"WEAPON"
