finiky brakes.

Post by Heath »

Hey guys,

Well the hilux has been gone for a while and my new courier (2wd) is great just got a problem (maybe) with the brakes.

In wet weather if I am a bit to generous with the stop pedal the passenger side front wheel locks up. I havent noticed a problem in the dry but the brakes are quite touchy, well compared to the old hilux anyway (had to make an appointment to get it to stop).

Any suggestions on where to look for causes? Warped rotor, sticky caliper etc. The brakes dont pulse when pressure is applied so not sure if a rotor is out but you never know.

Also just as an aside anyone tell me what pressures to run in the tyres (205/70/14 - pathetic I know) the tally on the door says 26 for fronts and 36 for rears (unloaded) with 185 or 195/70/14. This seems a bit low to me (for the front anyway and high for the back) so I am running 29 all round and the vague steering has gone (but not completely).

This wagon has done 270k so maybe it is time for a new set of bushes to tighten things back up also.

Cheers all,

Heath

(still without a 4wd but looking for that elusive bargain)
