Anyone else finding the site slower then normal today

Post by albundy »

Since the site has moved I have found it slower then the old one, even on the work system (and that's fast), it is near on useless with dial-up at home. Today I have found the site very slow to move from page to page, anyone else finding this today? Woder if it has anything to do with all that google shit on the pages.

Well it will tend to drop the connection if its in the fire

Welcome to your new Telecom connection, the 1 cellphone tower in Wainui must be a bit overworked, there is one on the hill up above us round the corner but in their infinite wisdom they disconnected it....

Interesting, i have found it faster and more reliable after the move!!!

Since the move, i haven't ended up in any random threads, or other people's PM's after clicking a link, logging in and logging out is way quicker, its really quite good now.

Is the weather crap down your way??

I reckon that when the weather is crap around the country, the site gets alot of traffic, so it's a bit slower.

If its going slow, i always have a look at the amount of people visiting the site

It will be slower for those in chch as the server was in chch so the traffic didnt have far to go for you chch guys. now its in the states. It used to be on its own server so had only itself to blame for sloweness, now its on a shared hosting server and im guessing when the americans wake up and start using their own sites this could cause some slight delays.

There is now no worry on the amount of videos nor traffic the site uses which is good. I think its going to be a little slower (like your nissan al) and more stable and reliable (like my LR and surf)

Yep, same here. I follow an American Jeep forum - no problems at all. This site is increasingly becoming a distraction.

the site is never going to have the performance of when it was on its own server. to get back to that is going to cost about $190US a month, something it just cant afford. see what the new hosting provider is like.

Mike, I am not expecting it to perform as it would on a dedicated server. But it has been really bad in terms of performance lately, particularly over the weekend.

it doesnt matter what network you are on as i'm pretty sure its the server its sitting on in the states. It seems to be real slow at times and when i check the load its through the roof!

its currently transferring, will take most of the night to do it.

did it change? I knew it was going to, and that Mike was moving it, but did notice any difference at any time.
Wonder if THAT had something to do with the nice new telecom cabinet that has been installed at the end of our street, abot 200 meters away???? Dialup? wassat? Has skid go broadband back yet??

The site has suddenly gone fast :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D Big improvement

When it comes to servers if they slow down with more people on they have been poorly designed.

My son designed and wrote the server for Royal mail in England which which has 51,000 lines of C++ code and handles over 100,000 users across the UK bar coding parcels and he told me a good server should go faster more people that use it .
