Well started the weekend fixing the blower unit for the heater. All good
. Went down the Waipara today, egged hiriklux on through the river and up a steep loose bank
. He made it after a couple of go's.
My turn next getting everso closer over the top when
BANG
I snapped the shaft off the outer cv joint right where the hub fits all over it in the locked position. Damage= outer cv joint of course, knuckle that it all sits in side of, several spacers, bearing locking nut and holding plate, and several parts of the warn freewheeling hub.
CV is essentially fixed but I need a hub to put it back into
Took me approx two hours just to get the bearing locking nut off the knuckle
Few late nites coming up as I am supposed to lead a club trip down the conway this coming weekend.

If you already know everything, DON'T ask bloody questions!!
I had a "fun" weekend. Friday: speedo cable and fuel line got caught up in the driveshaft. $20 for new fuel line and cable from up the back. Satuday: first thing I tried was the steps and broke a halfshaft
. Rushed home and picked up the spare and had it in within an hour and a half. The breakages must have been signs to start the axle conversion
so I bought a cruiser rear from napier and am going to get it shipped down. Will probably have one more play and get into the axle swap
got all the shocks and airbags done. controls have been ordered, week delivery from the uk

Got my carpets wet (quite a feat since the carpets are up so high... water was at the rubbing strip on the door) and almost got stuck for the first time in the process... fully crossed up in pea-shingle in the Waipara... but managed to paddle-steam my way out of trouble... god bless the Simexes
Other than that, bought a Magic Bullet, my versatile personal countertop magician... in just one... two... three seconds I had my very own quick and easy meal...
I'm a sucker for infomercials

He might have done a little better if he had finished more than two stages.... Still at least the wheels stayed on this time
Lots of open farmland with very boggy ground, and quite a few climbs. Lots o horsepower made quite a difference, look at the results:
1. Lexus V8
2. BIG Turbo diesel Nissan
3. Turbo diesel Nissan
4. Cruiser V8
5. 4L petrol Nissan
6. non turbo diesel Nissan
7. 1600 zuk
8. 1600 zuk
9. 1300 zuk
All the others had problems that resulted in DNF's
Thats our excuse for coming 7th anyway... well, that and we rolled. Would have come 3rd if we'd stayed on our wheels :\
