LN130 body lift questions

If you lift the body 2in what happens to the gearbox and transfer case levers, do they need lengthening or bending at all?

Are there rubber seals around the trans tunnel opening that keep out noise etc - do these need to be trimmed?

just gotta grind away at the surround so you can get to lowbox..
levers are fine as is

ahhhh thats LN61 anyway... may be different for the 130

you will have to bend the gear leaver up so you can get 2nd 4th and reverse. be very careful with you steering. on the steering shaft slaken the slip joint in side the cab and fully take of one of the joints in the engine bay. when you have done the lift make sure you can ge the engine bay one done up, if not get a thicker rubber joint near the steering box or space out the old one then tighten the adjustable slip joint.

nobody told me this and something broke due to the stress ie had no steerig, quite dangerous

Thanks guys.

This truck has ADD so has the push button 4wd so the transfer case gear lever only goes backwards and forwards rather than the back/forward/sideways of the other transfer case levers.

i am also about to do a 2 inch bodylift on a ln130.
apart from the bumpers is there anything else i have to disconnect/modify to make it work?

Possibly rebend front brake lines,
Loosen off steering column ujs possibly add spacer/packer at the rubber washer near the steering box end.
Loosen off fuel filler pipe may need to replace if its not long enough. Remove bottom half of radiator shroud. Unclip the hand brake cable from the underside of the body under the drivers floor and further back.
consider having a filler neck/radiator cap fitted to your radiator as it will be higher than your filler on the engine meaning your radiator will be under filled by 2 inches.
Check all the wiring looms and vacuum lines aren't pulled tight, in the engine bay and under the body.Anything else that is attached to the chassis/diffs and then to the body needs to be checked. such as breather lines

My ln130 has 40mm bodylift. It was done before new motor. I couldn't get the transfer to go to low range until tunnel was trimed. Was auto if thats different
Current 4wd: Surf Kzn185 ssrg factory Intercooled (yet to start build)
Past 4wd: toyota surf ln130, coil sas, 1uz v8 build

mine is auto also, think i have everything on the checklist ticked, anybody know what size bolts i will need to do a 50mm lift. plan on doing it on sunday so shop wont be open

I have done a couple body lifts on auto KZN130 surfs.
You need to remove the front bumper and raise the mounts to suit
On an auto you can loosen the nut on the auto shifter link on top of transmission and may have to file the opening for the 4WD lever. It may cut the wiring for the 4WD high button
I would remove and lower the radiator.
Undo the first few mounts under the body for the handbrake cable
Extend the fuel filler hose inside the right rear wheel arch as much as possible
Would also advise you to take out the steering shaft where it goes thru the firewall and file the hole down. Is a lot easier than it sounds

Pretty sure thats about it

Looks like everything has been covered here from my limited memory and took 2 of us noobs half a day and possibly too many brews. We followed this tutorial http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/techsite/bodylift.htm and found it brilliant even though mine is auto same as yours. Also as evolution02 said +1 about filing the hole in the firewall bigger for the steering shaft and also +1 for lowering the radiator as opposed to removing the shroud and I did snap the wiring for the 4WD high button so you may need to lengthen those as we did. I tried the bracket method for lowering the radiator but hell there is so little room in there that I gave up & I took it out, had some extra steel added to the radiator sides so I could drill new holes 50mm higher and therefore get a perfectly aligned fit between the body/shroud and fan. also there are 2 spots inside the bumper that need a little grinding back (you'll find them) or your bumper will sit slightly on the piss as in going uphill. It annoyed me till I sussed it out and have since seen many lifted surfs with the same indescretion lol.
Cautions:Also as in tutorial complete ONLY one side of your truck at a time, do not unbolt the whole lot. Re tighten all bolts after 500kms or so, amazing how loose mine were after a week.

2x130mm
4x150mm
4x170mm

All M10 8.8 with nylocs. :wink:
