Hi All,
Have spotted this 410 on trademe. I am looking at replacing my old cruiser and have been looking at 413's and Jimnys.
Any thoughts on this model ? How gutless is the 1000cc motor - what are options for mods ? I understand the 410 transfer case is lower ratio than the 413 case ? I want to use it off road not just to drive as a shiny.
These questions are pretty vague i know but am just looking for ideas at the moment.
Sorry here's the link

SJ410 Help / ideas Please
Re: SJ410 Help / ideas Please
Tidy looking one. Be nice to have one where the rust has been taken care of.
Have used a offroad. Was a bit gutless on 30" tyres heaps worse on 31" tyres. Would run out of puff in 1st low before running out of traction. It becam bearable after fitting a rockhopper transfer case though. They are only 4 spd also so anything over 80kph would be fair revving.
I would look at a 413, you get slightly beefier running gear, 5 sp, the extra 300cc in engine size makes a big difference and when you finally decide to go bigger, a vitara engine can be fitted with an adapter kit making it pretty easy (bolt in).
Heaps of info about them, have good read around

Thanks Lilpigzuk - i am busy "googling now"....I would prefer a 413 but if this one has had the rust properly sorted ( i haven't had a look at it yet) being 26 years old I guess it would have needed a lot of work.
For the right price it might be a good base to start from...
