i have a 94 hilux ute, 33s, 50mm body lift and 50mm susp lift, i do alot of river work and 4wd myself (going hunting) and need a winch incase one day it turns to shit on me and to save me a 20km walk to sivilisation, budjet is tight as everyone. What is the best value electric winch on the market for me and my hilux?

Tirfor, it'll pull your truck in any direction and will keep on going long after your engines dead and batterys flat :wink:

Or 2 bits of chain to go with the Hilift you should already be carrying. (for the same reasons as Sadam stated).
Unless you are fanatical on keeping your electric maintained, or you can keep it out of the mud and water, there is a bloody good chance it will let you down when you REALLY need it. All power winches have the issue that the engine must be going, but if it isn't, you are screwed.
So a backup in the form of some sort of manual extraction is a pre requisite (especially if you are going on your own).

If you are sold on the electric idea, I don't know that it makes a big difference what sort. Speed seems to be the defining factor, as if your winch lives outside it doesn't matter what brand it is, there is a good chance that the shit will get in and bugger stuff up.

Currently running 24V GEW10,000lb from Runva. www.winch.co.nz. $950 delivered to door. So far so good. Also have a tirfor for the very reasons boys have mentioned above, hard work but it will get you out and pull you anyway you like.
