Hey I own a 1981 bj40, the temperature guage is not working and I was just wondering where the temperature measuring device is located on the engine ( its a B series diesel).

Also whats the best way to test these sensors?? THANKS

Hey yeah it is just under the main water intake pipe on engine (just under the bit where the themostat usually goes in). Should have one wire attached, I measured my sensor with a ohmmeter and it was infinite (which means its screwed) so replaced it today, cost me 25 bux. Took it for a quite drive and it started to measure slightly ( didnt take it for enough drive for it to warm up properly as diff is poached so dont want to drive it much).

Here's a figure which may help.
