Vitara Front Diff

Post by Bubba »

I am looking at buying one with a broken front diff

What am I looking at for replacement costs?

How much for a SAS?

Any problems I should be aware of?

front diff

Post by spanky »

i blew my front diff in my vitara ,being nasty to it, managed to get just carrier for 75 but see diffs on trade me up to 295 complete.ive got 30 9.5 15 tyres on mine ,no sway bar,and very surprising where it will go,if can get right diff ratio will put hilux solid front end in ,but until then i will lock rear diff, weld as no money and does not go on tarcel. and they love the rev limiter too.lot more stable than mates 413,good luck if you get it,i am trying to photo on

Does the Vitara have a chassis? Wouldn't like to think of the trouble of fitting a solid axle to a monocoque body... would be cool tho.

Budget around $3500 for a SAS on most things, I'm sure I could make it work in a Vitara... when do you want to book it in? :D

$3500 och

Actully I tried ringing you last night to ask about it, what with you being receptacle of knowledge when it comes to SAS.

Mite have to put that one on my wish list. :( Maybe Santa will be nice to me...

I have been told that you can SAS so I guess it does have a chassis

Cheers Steve (Don't worry I value your opinion (ref to other thread))

Cool, still way off my budget :(

Will get it fixed before Christmas though, would rather get somebody I know that knows what they are doing as I heard stories about local garages just throwing them in and fckin it up.

Thats a big hint to anybody in the lower NI

I would pay of course, I just want it done right

Think that kit would be more expensive than doing it from scratch... nice to know they are out there tho...

But yeah, the SAS process is a time and parts killer... you can make it cheaper by helping and by providing the parts, but at best its still gonna cost you around $2k to do...

You should just about be able to change the front diff yourself, I would think... As long as you have axle stands and some tools you shouldn't have too much trouble... on a Hilux the hardest bit is some of the bigger bolts that require 3 hairy gorillas and a 12 foot extension bar to get each one undone...

Take photos :D

as steve was saying ,changing the front diff on a vitara is an easy job.whether you do a head or housing.left side axle unbolts , right side just has circlip so once undone driveshaft and 7 or 9 bolts that hold housing on , unhook vent tube and will just about fall out.mudfkr on trade me has lots of suzuki stuff ,worth checking his listings maybe?.good luck Vaughan

I can get a Vit front diff from a wreck I know of if anyones interested (was looking at it today) $200 + any handling I've gotta do.

It's a TA01W 1600 efi I didn't think to check the ratio at the time but it was an auto
This thing looks as if it's never been off road either.

YOUR QUESTION:
How much for the Hubbs and is the Front Diff damaged? If not how much?
Just "buy now" prices will do

SELLER'S ANSWER:
front diff,shafts+hubs $400.00 + shipping

WTF!!!

That seems a lot for Hubbs and Diff dosen't it?

Oh hell this is pissing me off now, all this friggin around. Hiho Hiho off to the bank I go (just have to clear it with the Bank Manager/ Handbrake/ Ministry of War)
