you wana buy my elec dizzy, but its attached to a motor

not sure on what a complete setup woulld be worth, but the parts, new are expensive, new coil pack for mine was $160 alone
Re: 3y dizzy
My 3y dissy stuffed out over a year ago. When I rang toyota for parts to fix it I was told that I could only buy a complete new dissy which was $1150.00.
After the parts man consulted with head office he got back to me with a price of $225.00 including gst for a complete distributor.

Re: 3y dizzy

Re: 3y dizzy
Yeah mine was just a normal dizzy, yep there is a electronic dizzy that came out in the 3y surpose less maintenance would be the main advantage no points or condensor to wear out, electronic you can pretty much set it and forget it.
Re: 3y dizzy
yea mines electornic timing/dizzy. not entirely sure on the technical side, but the steup doesnt have points like standard dizzy setup, and the coil pack is internal, which is the expensive part. the setup outlasts points timing, you get a stronger ignition/spark, more reliable, easier to tune
Re: 3y dizzy
Have a look on trademe under electronic ignition, a fella sells "Pertronix" (I think thats the brand) Ignition systems to replace the points ones. about $250. Looking at getting one for my FJ40.

if your going to get a pertronix module you'll save money by importing direct from the states, probably get it half price.
just make sure you've got the right part number.

If you want to do it cheap ring Toyota and see if the part no's are the same for the 1y, 2y and 3y (being toyota they prob are but dont quote me on it) If so then there will be heaps of dead engines around, or try the wreckers. 3Y is pretty limited to early surfs and hiace vans, 1y and 2y went into all reange of toyota small/mid size cars.
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed
