Terrano LSD installation

Post by kiwipete »

Okies, so I have gone and bought me a nice shiny LSD for my Terrano.
It is a 4.6 ratio and mine is 4.8 so I will need to change the gearing. From what I understand it will be the crown that gets changed?
Is there anything else I should do or look at or do whilst the change over is done?
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

Hi Pete, you will need to change the Crown wheel and Pinon, they need to be kept as a matched pair. I haven't set up a Nissan LSD but am lead to believe they are a better set up than the other brand ( that I won't bad mouth so I won't mention the T name ),
the LSD can probably be tightened up to make it more efficient, you will have to do a complete strip to change the R/P so a good look at the bearings and replace where necessary and a new Pinion flange seal. Any LSD oil will do. Check with Rick at 4WD acc , for a price to change and set up I know your very skilled but a Linesman can't be good at every thing :o :o , you could find yourself,

UP THE POLE,

FITZY.
