Hi
I just bought a 70 series cruiser and was wondering if anybody out there knows whether or not its possible to change the seats to something like recaro? and if so what is involved. I had recaro seats in my surf and never suffered from back ache once. Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

Re: Fitting recaro seats into a 70 series cruiser
anything is possible mate
some of the surfs have recaro's in them and if you can find a set of them you may even find the seat rails are the same in your 70's and will bolt strait in or with only minor modification. failing that seat rail frames are a pitta to make to suit whatever seat you want.

ifyou change the mounts and rails it will need recertifacation
if you un bolt the seat and bolt the new seat to the existing mounts its ok,
i have monza aftermarket seats in my fj, and i had to keep the existing rails frame etc to avoid the recert, w

Hi thanks for the info, so did you buy the monza seats new or 2 hand? just wondering if thats the way to go, I guess I should try and measure a set of recaro seat frames and see if they fit the cruiser seat frame.. I had recaros in my surf and they were great..

ive been thinking about this to i think starting with the exsisting rails is best as the mounts are long near the door and the other side sits on the gearbox tunnel if ya know what i mean.maybe weld custom brackets to the new seat so they fit the exsisting rails, probly what im gana do
on my 3rd POS 70 cruiser still havent learnt

this is how mines mounted

bit of 75x50 and some flat then welded to the standed rail
the other side is just the standed rail bolted to the seat
