Iv gota surf with a tired 2l-t and was thinking of getting a 3l and swapping all the gear over

in my opinion, there is no point in turbo charging a 3l for the amount of money you will pay for the 3l then put all the turbo stuff on then you have to put up with heaps of black smoke from the fuel pump, i think the 3l has 1kw more of less than a 2.4T (dont quote me). the 3l is a bloody good reliable motor so dont go shoving un nesacery boost down her guts, but they do seem to go alright with the turbo on. And its a pritty simple conversion

as long as its a 2lt(2) not a 2lt(1) then its a very worth while conversion.
make sure the turbo is in resonable nick. only down side is they tend to run out of puff around 3000rpm.
amount of power will depend on a few things like what cam is used, what injection pump is used etc. if 2lt injection pump is ok then use that.

plenty of info at http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/forum/

Its the 2nd gen 2lt. Will the stock cam and compression be fine?
Are there any other options for bolt on turbos?

stock cam and compression is fine.

has the 2lt got orginal head or has it been upgraded to 3L head? if so you could simply get a short block.
useing 2lt cam on 3L motor should keep the power down low if you can be bothered swaping them over.

i don't know if they is any turbo that will bolt straight on without adaptors or new exhaust manifold.
