hes asked bout kumhos in another post, think hes off them now

yeah its a shame mudstars dont come out in 35s, I would have got some already.

maxxis do the buckshot, which is an identical tyre.

its a catch 22 situation unfortunately

good mud tyre equals shite wear

good wear equals shite in mud

bfg mmmm in a 35'' tire its only a coool 499 each mmm

but at the mo it may be the option to go down as the road wear should be good.

how much were the mudstars. how is the road wear on them.

were about did you get them form too.

so many question and such a tight wallet.

Hey mate,

Yeah im still on 35 Creepies and they are going strong admit-tingly the rig doesn't get much use but they travel ok at 140km/hr under 3 ton odd of VX, in sayin that I rate the MTR,s also as the last set wore out after 85000km on a 4x4 courier ute ( only 31,s aswell though)

Previously had 315/75R16 Maxxis MT762 Bighorns, a bit noisey and average grip on the tarmac, average off road and were showing signs of wear after 10k. Currently running Kumho 35/12.5R18 KL71, good grip on the tarmac wet and dry, not much sign of wear yet (10k), excellent stability when towing, cruiser handles shite loads better than any previous tyres including 315/75R16 BFG ATs, haven't given them a decent test off road yet.

mudstars only got to 33"

available from most tyres shops

wouldn't pay more than $250 a tyre for them though.

mine were hellishly cheap , but thats what ya get when ya work in a tyre shop

done about 30,000kms on them now and just starting to show signs of edge wear

rate them highly

My VX is on Maxxis Buckshot's. 35's. Seem to handle ok on road, but clog up a bit in the gooey stuff. Can't comment to much though, as only had the truck 1 Month! Lot more power and height than my surf which equals getting into more trouble at the mo! Prob not used to the weight increase also as it falls into ruts I dont want it to. Like the look of the Maxxis Trepadoors, bit more side wall grip etc and a good price, but being in the trade also helps.

I have 33" cooper STT on my 80 atm, i rate them very good on road, esp in the wet. off road on "shiney" trips they are very good, but if your looking to get involved in more "hardcore" i would say the BFG mud2, i drove a 200 series with them and they seemed to also have good road manners!

I saw them somewhere

thought they looked hideous

and they are only directional one way

ie; they can only go on one side of your vehicle

can't flip em to the other side if they wear funny

interesting choice dude :| :| :|

Whats wrong with them being directional? Simex, SAT, among others are too.
My Ground Hawgs are directional and I think they are awesome, in the mud anyway..

they are not just directional, they are unidirectional

they can only go on the left or the right as stamped on the tyre and cannot be remounted from side to side like directional tyres

its that much of a biggie, but limits the ability to rotate tyres around if they develop and unusual wear pattern.

only my 2c and I'm not knocking his choice, it just wouldn't have been my pick, but as Jono says, they are coming at a good price and hes willing to be the test jockey 8)

the new wrangler mt/r is a asymmetrical tyre pattern. it is not a directional!!! the tyre only mounts one way. the sidewall will say "this side facing out".so you can put them on any corner as long as the tyre is mounted the right way. they havent landed yet and come on some interesting sizes. they look real nuggety and real awesome. asymmetrical tyres are beta on road as more responsive to steering ect. going by the pamphlet i've read at work the have alot more stronger kevlar sidewall so will be more puncture resistant. not sure how they bag tho. Jono you know wer i work give me a bell and i'll see wat i can do for ya or if ya in the hood drop in to see me in fitz ave (tonys tyre service)

righto then

I'm not saying anyone is wrong or right here, and certainly not wanting to start something and be accused of threadjacking

you obviously work in a tyre shop, I have 10 years experience in a tyre shop.

my thoughts on types of tyres.

I went searching and found a few websites regarding the new tah, only a couple of them listed the tahs as assymetrical, which is possibly what they are.

my initial look at the tyre shows me that it looks more like a uni-directional tyre.

if you were to put one of these on the right hand side of a vehicle, I believe it would not work as well as the one on the left.

again, these are only my thoughts on these tahs and will differ from others

enjoy your new tahs Jono, will look forward to a report back in a years time once you've given them a thorough workout

Those tyres are not directional. The only reason they say to face out is so the writing on the tyres Advertises
