Hi there, I~ve just brought a 1992 Terrano with the TD27T motor and the 5-speed, for an awesome price ($450 and WOF, REGO and RUC) knowing full well that the clutch needs doing.
I`ve got a few questions for some of the more mechanically minded people on here:
1. Is pulling the motor is the easiest way to do the clutch in one of these, or can you do it from underneath - I have access to an engine hoist..?
2. I can get a OEM clutch kit from Cockram Nissan for $260, is this the way to go? (the original clutch lasted 290k, so they should be okay)
3. Anyone done this want to give me an idea of how long / how much it cost to get done professionally? - I`m thinking a day should do it.
Any other tips or tricks would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Nick

Re: Terrano TD27T Clutch Replacement help?
Be better to pull the motor out the gearbox wont come out with out droping the torsion bars out.
If you pull the engine mounts off first then drop the motor down it makes it way easer to get to the top bellhouseing bolts and dont forget to reseal the bellhouseing when putting it back together

Re: Terrano TD27T Clutch Replacement help?
i bought a heavy duty clutch, non genuine from "clutch and brake' or somebody similar in hamilton, cant really remember, wasnt as expensive as 260,but cant really remember, put it in when i dropped the non turbo motor out and put the turbo one in.all good so far after about 40 thou kms.
Re: Terrano TD27T Clutch Replacement help?
I've just replaced the clutch in my Terrano. I had access to a hoist and replaced the gearbox as well.
It was a bit of a mission to say the least. Everything is fairly simple though, I have never done anything like that before and I managed to get the gearbox out by myself. It's just a bit time consuming by the time you have removed the crossmembers, torsion bars, drive shaft etc etc.
I found the hardest part is actually getting the gearbox to move forwards and backwards when removing and putting it back in.
We had three of us when I put the box back in and even then there is a hell of a lot of weight to support if the transfer case is attached.
Make sure you do the spiggot bush whilst you are there. I got one from Cockram Nissan for $12. It's a bit of a pain to get it out but if you don't do it and it flogs out in 6 months you will be kicking yourself.
Good luck!

Re: Terrano TD27T Clutch Replacement help?
I did my old terrano a few years ago, whats up with having that crossmember were the torsions have to be dropped!! must be a nissan thing, i was talking to a mate and he can do the job in 2hours, apparently the easiest way is to remove the transfer first, dont quote me on this but he said dropping that x-member with the torsions is not needed.

Re: Terrano TD27T Clutch Replacement help?
Yeah if you removed the transfer case you could probable wiggle it out without removing the rear crossmember and then get the gearbox out from there. The rear of the transfer case where the rear drive shaft slides in probably protrudes 15cm past the rear crossmember so it will be a bit fiddly.
It would certainly be easier getting the gearbox away from the motor without the extre weight of the transfer box.
Still I would like to see someone do it in two hours!

I would also like to see someone remove a terrano gearbox in two hours hell i would get them to do rather than myself.
Bugga droping the transfer case then the gearbox once u have wound off the torsion bars its not much more to pull them out n drop it all as one.
I pulled my gearbox out on my own and put it back on my own all i had was axle stands and a floor jack to work with.
