I have heard people say that the v6 has a front lokka as they have the same diff as the navara the R you are talking about is the RSR again I am not sure if a navara diff will fit mine is the RM3 turbo

ps. something may turn up

Nah, meant the series number... R50, etc...
I'll do some investigations...
Steve
Nope, its a WD21
R50 is a much later modle
Yes, you can get a front locker for it. If you can find your self an open (none LSD) carrier for the rear, you can throw a locker in there two.
The Front diff center of a GQ is the same as a Terrano rear (modle and year dependant), so an open carrier from the front of a GA should work in your rear diff with a locker in theory.
Hope thats usefull,
Pete.

Pete,I have been talking to Steve on the phone regarding lokkas ,if I wanted to get rid of my LSD and replace it with a lokka you said a front GQ diff will fit a Terrano what about the ratio ?as mines a auto ,also you said you can not replace a LSD with a lokka? Steve did say that he could supply the diff head and lokka but he also did no idear about the ratio of the Terrano auto.
looking forward to your reply

IU'm unsure about the ratio's my self, but i do know where i can find out.
Can you give me the numbers off the plate on the fire wall??
As far as i know, at this time, a manual WD21 Pathfinder/Navara LSD fits and is the same ratio as the front of a manual Y60 GQ.
The autos and leaf sprung GQ's have different ratio diffs i think, again, i will check, i have the info at home.
Here's a bit of usefull info:
Diff Information From 1989 Y60 GQ Patrol?Safari
Transaxle no. FS5R50A HG41
H233B LS Rear Diff.
Axle Spline Count: 33 splines 33.3mm
Crown Wheel Diameter: 255mm
Crown Wheel to Carrier : 9 bolts
Front diff is H233 with 31 spline.
Rear is H233B with 33 spline, but has different locker part number for disk braked/drum braked models. H260 for leaf sprung cab/chassis.

lokka
I have just been told and I'm not sure if its true that the rear of the terrano is the same as the front of a GQ.and when putting a lokka in the rear it dose not matter what ratio it is ,if thats true at least I can get my rear sorted out as I want to get rid of the LSD, As for the front I have a freind in truck spares in Nelson to ask about the ratios for the front.
Steve must know if the ratios matter weather the same lokka goes into manual or auto
Cheers

Ah ha, why didn't you say
Well, all you need is the open carrier from the front of a GQ to fit your locker into. Bolt your origional Terrano crown wheel to the carrier, fit the locker to the carrier and you should be good. The spider gears you replace with the locker have nothing to do with the diff ratio.
If you retain your origional crown wheel and pinion you will keep your origional diff ratio.
A locker will not fit your existing LSD Carrier as you are no doubt aware already
As for the front, no shagging around there, a locker will fit straight in and they are available off the shelf!!!!

terrano locker in front
Further to the existing comments;
The front diff in the 2.7 turbo disel is a r180 same as early s13 silvia's. They are 27 spline.
The front diff in 3 litre petrol is a r200 same as skyline r32,33,34 and s14/s15 silvias(200sx). These are 29 spline.
As can be seen above the Lock right LOCKA's etc are only made for the R200 diff as far as i'm aware ? (double check this i'm not 100% sure)
What i have done in my terrano is i've put in an LSD from a s13 silvia (plate type made by Nissmo) in the front diff and run a Navara LSD centre with extra plates to increase the lock up in the rear diff (120ft/p of preload makes almost like a locker).
The above works really well and cost me under a grand to do (all labour etc was done myself).
The rear diff is the same as GQ patrol front as i have recently swapped my ARB airlocker from the tarrano rear into the front of my new patrol.
The ratios are however different terrano are 4.6 and most patrols are 4.1 can however swapp over the crown and pinion.
Regards hope above helps ya out.

front lokka
You have me interested in the S13 Silvia diff for the front , is it the same ratio and what model?,
If I was to go the other way, the v6 autoR200 front diff is it the same ratio as the deisel ? and will it fit as my prefferance is a lokka for the front and the rear at the moment I have a rear LSD.

terrano locker
The V6 diff is the same 4.6 ratio in the auto (just double check the firewall before buying).
If you are putting the V6 diff in i would also swapp over the half shafts as they are stronger being 29 spline as opposed to 27 in the desil.
I also agree locker in the front with LSD rear would get you almost any where.
Hope the above helps

Apologies about bringing up an old thread, but I'm interested in fitting a locker to the rear of my Mistral (which is LSD) and I'm wondering whether buying this would be the best way to get an open carrier to fit a locker to.

Or whether i could probably find just the carrier from a wreckers for less.
Not something i have much experience with, so your help is appreciated.
Cheers
