Any more than 50mm on a 185 starts to cause cv angle issues. Why do you need to lift it? IE, what size tyres are you trying to get on?
You can add a 1" diff spacer, that helps with drive line angles, and do a small body lift to help clear chosen tyres.
I have 100mm lift in a 90 series Prado (exactly the same platform as a 185 surf), and did it with 50mm suspension and 50mm body lift. Mine runs 285/75/16 MT's (33" height), and I wouldn't run anything bigger on these trucks as the centre diff on them is an inherrant weak spot.
Ugly is a state of mind..... and the state of my truck!
