70 series electrical fault

Post by BrentC »

What price a new alternator:?:

Ever since filling the cruiser with Wairapa dust in January - the dash lights up like a christmas tree when I go over a bump - the lights go out after the next good bump - has been in the Auto-Elec twice - rebuilt the alternator - new regulator etc - just got the account - anyone know the cost of a new alternator and regulator - might have been cheaper - lights still come on after a good bump :x

Anyone else had similar problem :?: fix :?: :D

Have similar problems with the 80.

I've pinned it down to the connector on the back of the alternator. About once every 6 months i pull out the plug, get my little flat head screw driver and crush the little terminal clips so they contact better on the spades.

Its amazing how many dash lights come on at one time when the contacts get a little dodge.

But it could be anything where a contact is failing.

Good luck.

More the price I was after - the thing has so many new bits and reconditioned bits it should be ok.

Have you rung Bernie (Manukau4wd Club Captain) to test those Monster tyres in slip and slide Ness Valley this coming weekend - I haven't updated the http://www.manuakau4wd.org.nz website yet - major laptop crash

They are looking at Saturday with Sunday as back up - you can't get around the Ness Valley farm tracks if it is raining - in fact - you can't get off the end of the driveway

I will keep the sparky bit in mind - thanks - the thing is in bits getting new CV and axle at the moment   so there is no urgency
