NO MORE LIFTED TRUCKS:
The New South Wales state Government
A petition has been started to stop this law change.
This was mailed out from the assocaition today to all club sectretaries -
Dear Secretary,
You will possibly be aware by now of the
announcement by the State Minister of Transport
regarding the changes in vehicle suspension
modification, particularly with the limitation of
self approval being limited to 5cm.
The Press Release is available at
http://alturl.com/5d6i
Recent approaches over the last 6 months by 4WD
NSW-ACT to meet with the Minister and or his
advisors was met with initially no response, but
eventually a meeting with the General Manager of
the RTA which has been arranged for next week.
Obviously it is indeed disappointing that the
Minister makes this announcement prior to this
meeting & labelling a large number of legitimate
4wd enthusiasts as "Hoons."
The response to this announcement will be a
concerted campaign to have this decision
modified. We are organising a joint campaign with
the cooperation of our national body, as well as
the Australian 4WD Industry Council & the
Australian Aftermarket Accessories Association.
It is also hoped that the NRMA will also join us
in lobbying the government in this issue.
Please advise your members that be assured that
the Executive will be very active on this issue.
Kind Regards
Roger Sheath
Vice President
Four Wheel Drive NSW & ACT Inc.

Just in case it was missed:
There can only be 50mm of lift (total - tyres/spring/body) if you still wish to use the car on the road. Up to 50mm of lift must be engineered ("Rubber-stamped"), which as far as I've seen so far generally costs $600+.
Lifts of up to 100mm are allowed, but they must be engineered, and will only be allowed to have a conditional registration, effectively limiting the use of the vehicle to competition use only (no on-road use).
Soo..
You've got a GQ Patrol. You bang in a 2" lift. You then stick a set of 33"s underneath. I wouldn't call that very extreme, would you? However, your car is now illegal for use on roads in NSW.

F*cking glad I don't live there.. My 4" lift + tyres would probably get me thrown in a cell with Bubba..

1990 Nissan GQ Patrol - 4" and a bit lift, Drop Boxes, 33" Maxxis MT's, 4 x HID Cibie's, PTO winch
