vitara 'A' class trials truck project
Expressions of interest.
Due to ongoing back issues and a few consultations with the docs, it would seem my chosen form of 4wding may not be all that good for me and it was recomended that I find a more "sedate" verion of the sport to enjoy.
I have been putting off making this decision, hoping that all would come right given time (helped somewhat by my lack of project POS funds as well and a buggered right wrist) and I would not have to do this.
But the vitara is looking like it will have to go (will find a nice 'sedate 80 series cruiser' to replace it and my ute I guess).
Fitted with 6 point roll cage, 16v engine (extractors but no exhaust). Computer has been relocated to high under dash in waterproof container and battery relocated to the rear. Guards cut ready for 31 inch tyres. Has 4 large offset suzuki 5.5 inch rims (centres removed and rewelded) and currently has 30x9.5 tyres (one brand new not on a rim), manual hubs (and one spare) and three auto locking hubs, lots of spare bits and pieces.
Body is best described as rough but was suitable for the job at hand (learning and having fun).
Transfer case currently jammed but I have another spare gearbox/tcase complete to go in it. a full LWB 5.12 rear axle (brake drum to drum), a spare 4.8 rear third member (centre bit), two spare front 5.12 front diffs (one 27 spline), spare 'A' arms, struts and other odd bits. Was a work in progress so isnt finished but wasnt far off (barwork and hooks and the gearbox swap would see you competing I guess), has 4 point harneses fitted and a spare set of 5 point to go with it.
See my POS thread for details on what it is and any pics. Have an a frame that I was going to modify to allow it to be towed too.
At this point I have not set a price but expect it to be between $4-5k mark, have some oil and a new filter for it too (was doing a change soon but ...)
Okay so thats it I guess.
PM me if you are interested in kicking the tyres.
Heath

Re: vitara 'A' class trials truck project
Pretty shit faced at the moment and having a hard time even thinking about chucking it in (its like admitting defeat - which I dont do) but I need my back for my job and cant jepardise that for a little fun offroad. Was told a solid bump up through the spine (like you get when you drop off a high ledge) could be all it would take to bugger the disks (more than they are now).
Maybe in another few years I can have another go if all comes right, but I am not holding my breath. I figure if I cant have fun in a little toy then I'll buy a monster and cruise the baby slopes (I hate even admitting to that!!!).
Bugger this wheres the medication!!!!!!!

Re: vitara 'A' class trials truck project
To quote that famous Toyota Ad Bugger
I had C2 and C3 fused about 18 years ago and C3 and C4 are wearing so the fusing of them is being put off for as long as possible. Thats why I have always worn a collar, and yes it is always in the back of my mind when looking at hazards and when the buggy stops rolling it is always the move the toes then the fingers then a thumbs up to the marshalls and the main reason I'm always yelling for people to lower vehicles down not just drop them.
But just think how good it will be to come along and WATCH Rex, Chris, myself and the others competing? Like hell it will be fun, but dont give the sport away totally. We need someone on the sidelines to give us crap

Re: vitara 'A' class trials truck project
You may not be the only one sitting on the sidelines
.
Im's too chicken to go to the doc for much the same reason , still I think mine is more just pinching a nerve in a joint somewhere ( well excluding spraining no 5 joint rather regularly now ) . If I flex the worng way or lift something ( thus compressing the spline ) I get a wicked headache a few hours or a day later
. Just spent the day building a large planter box so I will be stuffed for teh next two or three days .
Anyway back on topic , thats a bugger but life I guess . Somenice coil spring shine sounds like you for the next few years
Cheers
Chris

Re: vitara 'A' class trials truck project
A nice sedate 80 series with diff locks would do me for shooting and a daily driver.
Sometimes life gives you a swift kick in the balls and its how you deal with it that counts. I dont intend to give up just pare back my expectations and You guys can be damn sure I will still be kicking tyres and talking bullshit at the events I attend albeit on the sidelines.

vitara 'A' class trials truck project for sale
Had a long think and I'll take $4000 for the whole lot.
Too many parts to list (alternators, hubs, power steering gear, etc).
Not on trade me yet, figured I would give you guys the first bite of the cherry. Of course if some one came by with a pile of cash the price might be more negotiable

Shit happens. Life deals you a hand to play but its up to you how you play it.
I bought myself a new 'Boom stick' too, a saiga 762x39 (its a close range toy but it's cool to shoot)
Re: vitara 'A' class trials truck project
$3500ono
Buy it as a bush truck and sell the spares to recoup some of the costs

Re: vitara 'A' class trials truck project
Okay down to 2800 for just the truck (gear box and a few spares) or 3300 for the lot.
Going to have to start parting it out soon to get rid of it, dont want to do that.

Re: vitara 'A' class trials truck project
down to $2600 and if not sold soon I will start ripping it apart and selling the bits. So get your required parts lists ready just incase.
Would suit a bush truck or trials project. Would prefer to see it go in one piece but can't afford to wait forever.
