SKIDS 80 SERIES BUS

Post by skid »

Decided to start its own thread for the 80.

I originally bought it coz it was cheap and was to be used to tow Orange around, but the 40 got sold and now the 80 is seeing more off road use.

Lately there has been the need for some maintenance and in the future there will be some mods to it, so it now has its own thread.

started with this ....................

after a few trips off road, it needed some attention, so heres a few pics of what has happened over the last week................

So after a full front diff rebuild and new bushes in the radius arms and trailing arms, we put in some different springs we found lying around and it has given it about a 2" lift.

It drives so much nicer on the road now and has all but removed the drivetrain backlash.

I have plenty more plans for the ol girl, including front, rear and side bars, a winch at some stage and new shocks to go with the lift. It all costs money, so will happen as finances allow.

don't need it dude

mine is manual and triple locked

I do owe you an apology though

it seems my dash also has the strip up the middle as if it was an auto, but theres no letters or lights there though.
my mate converted his auto to manual and his has same strip but visible letters and of course it lights up.

I should of run out to my 80 first before jumping to conclusions

sweet as  8) 8) 8)

ummmm, I think around the 180 mark, cant remember, but they hardly needed replacing compared to the front ones that virtually fell out

I just want simple tube design.

I have looked at a few front bars and to be honest I want something simple and really like the bar that PR made for the missus pajero.

side bars are a simple thing, but at the moment funny enough my factory running boards are doing a fine job and they bend back into shape and now they sit 2" higher

rear bar I havent even thought of to be honest

slee off road has some good options

Hey nice one skid!!
I really like the 80 series cruisers.. That's the model I'd go for if I was gunna repower another Toyota. LS2 with all the go fast bits with a tough drivetrain. 8)

I look forward to seeing your progress.
